Arzachena and his Archeological sites

The town has a very ancient history, as evidenced by the granite rock of the “Fungo“, a probable shelter for the population in the pre-Nuragic age.

A few kilometers away you can visit some very interesting archaeological sites such as the necropolis of Li Muri, the nuraghe La Prisjona and the tomb of giants Coddu “Ecchiu, an ancient collective burial of the locals.

A stage of the Tour will be dedicated to Luogosanto with a visit to the most evocative rural church that stands on a granite rock surrounded by the typical Mediterranean maquis from where it is possible to dominate a stupendous panorama over almost all the north of Gallura: the Church of San Trano, dedicated to the holy anchorite lived around the fifth century.

Costa Smeralda’s tour

Alghero: catalan city

Also know as the ” Barceloneta Sarda“, or ” little Barcelona” it’s made up of the metropolitan network of nothern Sardinia, in the province of Sassari, characterized by Spanish fortresses and wall on the inside of which the towers stand out, ancient testimonies of a long domination.

The first stage of the Tour will be characterized by a visitto the beautiful Caves of Neptune. After the lunch break, which will be carried out in a tipical restaurant in the area and after a bit of relax, we will continue with a visit to tje famous historic centre, whose street are paved with stones, particular  picturesque, also becaus they are a typical craft shops, as well as bar and restaurant, making it very welcoming and special. The excursion will end with a visit to the Basilica of SS. Trinità di Saccargia, one of the most important medieval monuments in the area.

Dorgali and Cala Gonone

Once known as the habitat of the Mediterranean monk seal, today the Grotta del Bue Marino is a popular destination for tourists visiting the Baronia.

If the weather forecast does not allow the crossing of the sea, alternatively it is possible to visit the highest stalactite / stalagmite in Europe, namely the Ispinigoli Cave (= spine in the gorge).

Always in the day visit the center of Dorgali, full of small shops and ideal for those who would like to buy souvenirs such as shawls, capes, bags, wines, cheeses, etc.

Tharros and Museum of Cabras

Tharros it’s  an archaeological site of great interest: the remains of one of the largest Phoenician-Punic cities on the island jut out on a hill near Capo San Marco.

Later we visit the Religious Village of San Salvatore and its little church that demonstrates the ancient attendance of the place by the first Nuragici, the Punics and the Romans later.

We stop at some pristine beaches and then go to the Civic Museum of Cabras, ( Giants of Mont e Prama ) which preserves the archaeological finds recovered in the excavation campaigns.

Campidano, History and Archeology

A stage on the Tour will be a visit to the Nuraghe Gènna Maria (Villanovaforru): in this area the Nuragic communities built, starting from the Middle Bronze Age, XIII century. a.C., a tholos-type nuraghe, according to a so-called “trilobate” scheme, that is, with three towers placed at the tops of a triangle. Afterwards we reach the Civic Archaeological Museum of Villanovaforru, located in the historic center.

Inside there are many finds found during the excavation campaigns at the Nuraghe Gènna Maria and other nuraghi in the area.

In conclusion, we visit some historical centers of the Marmilla to know the traditions of the local inhabitants; the view is very suggestive because it offers some bare hills alternating between vegetable gardens, vineyards, olive trees and Mediterranean scrub.

Cagliari and his Monuments

Cagliari is the capital that rises on top of the historic center, near the Mediterranean.

An important stop is the area of the Castle, rich in elegant buildings, craft shops, narrow and humid streets leading to the Cathedral of Santa Maria, belonging to the 12th century; at its feet is the staircase of the Bastion of Saint Remy.

The journey to the historic center continues until reaching the Towers of San Pancrazio and that of the Elephant.

Near Piazza Arsenale is the Cittadella dei Musei which preserves a rich heritage of historical finds from the island. Not far away is the Roman Amphitheater which dates back to the 1st century BC and the I century A.D.

In the evening you can admire the Poetto coastline or the Bonaria Sanctuary which houses an interesting museum with a collection of sacred objects.
