Lake Cedrino
The Cedrino was born on the slopes of Mount Fumai and Mount Novo San Giovanni in the Gennargentu massif near the Supramonte of Orgosolo where it is known as the Rio Boloriga. After a tortuous journey of 80 km it flows into the Tyrrhenian Sea near Orosei with an estuary mouth closed during dry periods by a sandy coastline that forms in the area behind a marshy area particularly rich in fauna. It is the fifth longest river in Sardinia and is particularly rich in water.
In 1984 its course was closed with the construction of a dam in the locality of Pedra ‘e Othoni near Dorgali, at the foot of the Tului and Bardia mountains, creating an artificial basin of about 0.95 km²: the Cedrino lake.
